V-22 tilt-rotor aircraft (English: Boeing Bell V-22, nicknamed: Osprey, Osprey), is an American tilt-rotor aircraft with vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) and short takeoff and landing (STOL) capabilities. The V-22 tiltrotor is similar to the fixed-wing aircraft in appearance, but the two rotors are driven by two rotating engines on the wing tips. In the fixed-wing state, the V-22 is like an aircraft with two oversized propellers on the two wing tips. In the helicopter state, it is a helicopter with two smaller rotors, which makes it have the vertical lifting ability of helicopter, but also has the advantages of fixed wing propeller aircraft, such as high speed, long range and low fuel consumption. The maximum flight speed is 509 kilometers, which is the fastest helicopter in the world. The United States is also studying the early warning and tanker versions of the Osprey for use with VTOL fighters. It is designed to meet the operational requirements of the U.S. Air Force, Navy, Army and Marine Corps. The V-22 tiltrotor aircraft was jointly developed by Boeing and Bell Helicopters in the 1980s, and made its maiden flight on March 19, 1989. After a long period of testing, modification and verification, the aircraft was successfully tested. It entered service with the U.S. Air Force on November 16, 2006, and was commissioned by the U.S. Marine Corps in 2007. In the same year, it was deployed to Afghanistan for combat deployment. More than 200 V-22s have been produced and rolled off the production line.
